National Bamboo Mission

The National Bamboo Mission is a government scheme run by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare to promote bamboo farming and processing across India. Launched in 2018-19, it became possible after bamboo was legally removed from the definition of 'tree' under Indian Forest Act. The scheme aims to increase bamboo cultivation, improve quality of bamboo plants, develop bamboo-based products, and create markets for bamboo farmers.
