Fact-Checking Policy

How we verify every government scheme before it appears on JanSevaPlus

Why Fact-Checking Matters

Millions of Indian citizens lose access to government benefits every year because they have inaccurate information about eligibility criteria or application procedures. An incorrectly listed income limit could exclude an eligible family. A wrong document requirement could cause a beneficiary to be turned away at the application counter.

JanSevaPlus exists to close the information gap, not to perpetuate it. Our fact-checking process is therefore not optional — it is the foundation of everything we publish.

What We Check

Eligibility Criteria Accuracy

Income limits, age ranges, gender requirements, caste categories, and residence criteria are verified directly against the official scheme guidelines PDF or web page.

Benefit Amount Verification

All monetary benefit amounts (₹ figures) are verified against the latest official notification. Where amounts have been revised, we show the current rate and note the revision date.

Document Requirements

Required documents are sourced from official application checklists. We do not add or remove documents from the official list.

Application URL Validity

Official application links are tested for accessibility and redirected URL accuracy before publication. Dead links are flagged for removal or replacement.

Scheme Status

We verify whether a scheme is currently accepting applications, temporarily paused, or closed. Closed schemes are clearly marked. We monitor scheme status monthly.

Transparency on Uncertainty

When official scheme documents are ambiguous or when different official sources disagree, we choose the more conservative interpretation (i.e., the more restrictive eligibility criteria) and direct users to the official portal for the authoritative answer.

We do not speculate about upcoming or proposed changes to schemes. A scheme is listed as closed only when an official source confirms closure. A scheme is marked as "active" only when it is currently accepting applications.

Our Limitations

Despite our fact-checking process, government scheme details change frequently without advance notice. JanSevaPlus cannot guarantee real-time accuracy for all 3,700+ schemes at all times. Our "Last Verified" date on each scheme page indicates the most recent review. Always verify on the official government portal before applying.
